Overview

Provides financial assistance to outstanding sportspersons living in indigent circumstances for medical treatment, equipment purchase, or training.

Eligibility

  • Sportspersons who have represented the country at national or international level.
  • Annual income of the family must be less than ₹4 lakh.
  • Coaches and support personnel in distress are also eligible.

Benefits

  • Assistance up to ₹10 lakh for medical treatment of injuries/illness.
  • Assistance up to ₹5 lakh for sportspersons living in indigent circumstances.
  • Assistance up to ₹2.5 lakh for purchase of sports equipment.
  • Assistance up to ₹2 lakh to families of deceased sportspersons.

Documents required

  • Aadhaar card
  • Proof of age (birth certificate / school certificate)
  • Domicile / residence proof
  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • Sports achievement certificates (state / national)
  • Bank account details (passbook copy)
  • Coach / academy recommendation letter (if applicable)
  • Medical fitness certificate

Applications can be submitted online via the Department of Sports portal or through the Sports Authority of India.
