Frequently asked questions

How many centres are notified per state?

One. KISCE sits under the State Level Khelo India Centre (SLKIC) vertical, and only one existing training centre per State/UT is notified — SAI circulates a DPR proforma, each state proposes up to three potential centres, and a SAI internal/Project Appraisal Committee shortlists one, with preference to centres covering the 14 priority disciplines.

What does the Centre fund and what stays with the State?

Central support covers sports science back-up, engagement of coaches and support staff, and sports equipment. Lodging, boarding, regular maintenance, infrastructure upgradation and overall management remain with the State/UT sports department, which is the implementing agency. SAI provides technical expertise and signs an MoU with each centre setting out the operational and financial arrangements.

How long is support given?

Selected proposals are supported for at least three years, coterminous with the Khelo India scheme, after a DPAC-approved on-site viability gap analysis by SAI.
