Support to traditional wrestling hubs by providing mats and equipment to modernize indigenous wrestling training.

Amount / benefit value
Per athlete per year: ₹3,000 sports kit + ₹3,000 competition exposure + ₹1,000/month stipend (10 months) + ₹150 accidental insurance, plus a wrestling mat and/or multi-gym equipment for the adopted akhara.

Note: Traditional wrestling akharas are formally adopted by SAI (around 40–50 nationally) as part of the NSTC Scheme, launched 1985, to modernise indigenous wrestling training alongside coaching from NSNIS-trained coaches.

Eligibility

  • Akharas functional for at least 3 years
  • Minimum of 20 active wrestlers training daily
  • Space available for laying wrestling mats

  • One-time supply of wrestling mats and multi-gym equipment
  • Annual grant for equipment maintenance
  • Stipend for the coach/guru in selected cases
