Rates under the scheme amended with effect from 1 February 2025 (₹ lakh, gold/silver/bronze): Olympic & Paralympic Games 75 / 50 / 30; Asian Games, Para Asian Games and Commonwealth Games (including para-athletes) 30 / 20 / 10; World Championship or World Cup held quadrennially 40 / 25 / 15, biennially 20 / 14 / 8, annually (and the All England Badminton Championship) 10 / 7 / 4; Asian Championships 15 / 10 / 5 (quadrennial), 7.5 / 5 / 2.5 (biennial), 3.75 / 2.5 / 1.25 (annual); World University Games 3.75 / 2.5 / 1.25. IBSA World Championship/World Cup, Blind Cricket World Cup, Deaflympics, Special Olympics World Games and world championships in deaf sports: 20 / 14 / 8. In team events each member receives 75% of the corresponding individual amount. Coaches receive 50% of the athlete's incentive, apportioned 30% grassroot-level, 30% development-level and 40% elite-level coach.

Note: Where an athlete wins more than one medal in the same event, the incentive is paid for the highest-ranking medal. Amounts shown are for quadrennial editions unless stated; biennial editions are paid at 50% and annual editions at 25% of the quadrennial figure. Eligible disciplines are listed in Annexure-I of the scheme.

Eligibility

  • Indian sportspersons winning a medal at an event notified in the scheme (open, para and diverse-ability categories)
  • Only disciplines listed in Annexure-I of the scheme and para 1.2.1(c)
  • Where multiple medals are won in the same event, the incentive is paid for the highest-ranking medal
  • Coaches who identified, developed or provided advanced training to the medal winner

Benefits

  • Olympic & Paralympic Games: ₹75 lakh gold, ₹50 lakh silver, ₹30 lakh bronze
  • Asian Games, Para Asian Games and Commonwealth Games (incl. para-athletes): ₹30 lakh gold, ₹20 lakh silver, ₹10 lakh bronze
  • World Championship/World Cup held quadrennially: ₹40 lakh / ₹25 lakh / ₹15 lakh; biennially ₹20/₹14/₹8 lakh; annually and All England Badminton ₹10/₹7/₹4 lakh
  • Asian Championships: ₹15/₹10/₹5 lakh (quadrennial), ₹7.5/₹5/₹2.5 lakh (biennial), ₹3.75/₹2.5/₹1.25 lakh (annual)

How do I claim the cash award?

Do team-event medallists get the same amount?

No. Each member of a medal-winning team receives 75% of the amount notified for the corresponding individual event.

What do coaches get?

Coaches of medal winners share 50% of the athlete's incentive — 30% to the grassroot-level coach who first identified and groomed the athlete, 30% to the development-level coach and 40% to the elite-level coach who provided advanced training.
