The BCCI has announced India's squads for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, covering a five-match ODI series and a two-match Test series. The selectors have named two separate ODI squads, one for the first three matches and one for the last two.
Captains
Shubman Gill will captain India in the first three ODIs, with Shreyas Iyer as vice-captain. Gill then leaves to prepare for the Test series, and Iyer captains the final two ODIs, with Ishan Kishan as his vice-captain. Gill also leads the Test team, with KL Rahul as vice-captain.
Key selection talking points
- Ravindra Jadeja is not in either ODI squad but keeps his place in the Test squad.
- Jasprit Bumrah is not in the ODI squads and is included in the Tests.
- Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are in both ODI squads.
- Wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra is named for the last two ODIs.
- Anshul Kamboj is picked for the first three ODIs and is also in the Test squad.
- Prasidh Krishna's ODI selection and Rishabh Pant's Test selection are subject to fitness clearance.
