The IPL 2027 mini-auction will be held in Goa in December. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has confirmed the venue and said the likely dates are 15 and 16 December. The BCCI has not yet released an official schedule.
What we know so far
- Venue: Goa. The auction returns to India for the first time since the Kochi auction in December 2022, after three editions were held in Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi.
- Date: Likely 16 December, with an auction briefing for franchises on 15 December. Reports say the BCCI has already sent communication to franchises about travel and logistics, but the date is not official yet.
- Format: A one-day mini-auction, and the last one before the next mega auction.
- Retention deadline: Franchises are expected to submit their retained and released player lists to the BCCI by 15 November.
Why it matters
The retention and release decisions will set each franchise's auction purse, because retention costs are deducted from the budget. All ten franchises will use the mini-auction to fill gaps in their squads ahead of IPL 2027.
Clash with the India schedule
The reported auction date of 16 December falls on the same day as India's second ODI against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.
Coaching changes ahead of the auction
Several franchises have already made coaching changes, including Kieron Pollard's appointment as Mumbai Indians head coach.
Note: Dates are as reported by the media and have not been officially confirmed by the BCCI. Last updated 27 October 2026.
