About
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Founded in December 1928 and headquartered at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, it is a society registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act and functions as a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The BCCI selects the senior men's, senior women's and India A / age-group national teams, sanctions all international and domestic cricket played in India, and administers the country's first-class and List A structure — the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Irani Cup, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy — alongside the women's Senior One-Day and T20 Trophies. It also owns and operates the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women's Premier League (WPL) through separate governing councils. The Board is an association of state and specially invited cricket associations, each of which enjoys voting rights at its Annual General Meeting. Since 2018 its constitution has been reformed in line with the recommendations of the Justice R. M. Lodha Committee as accepted by the Supreme Court of India, introducing an office-bearer cooling-off period, an age cap of 70, an Ethics Officer and an Ombudsman.
