Boxing Federation of India
Founded 1949 · Recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
About
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) is the national governing body for amateur (Olympic-style) boxing in India. Established in 2016 after the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the international federation withdrew recognition from the earlier Indian Amateur Boxing Federation, the BFI is headquartered in New Delhi and is affiliated to World Boxing and Asian Boxing (from earlier IBA/AIBA structures). It is recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Indian Olympic Association as the sole national federation for the sport. The BFI selects India's senior men's and women's national boxing teams as well as youth, junior and sub-junior teams for participation at the Olympic Games, the World Championships, the Asian Games, the Asian Championships, the Commonwealth Games and all continental and youth events. Domestically it conducts the Senior Men's and Women's National Boxing Championships, the Youth (U-19) and Junior (U-17) National Championships, the Sub-Junior Championships, the Elite National Ranking Tournaments and inter-services and inter-university tie-ups. The federation works with state boxing associations across India, runs high-performance camps at national training centres in Patiala, Rohtak and Bhopal, and operates coach, referee and judge education programmes aligned with the international federation's certification pathway.
