About
Hockey India is the national governing body for the sport of field hockey in India. Established in 2009 to unify the men's and women's game under a single federation, it is headquartered at Olympic Bhavan in New Delhi and is recognised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. Hockey India selects the senior men's, senior women's, junior and sub-junior national teams and is responsible for their participation at the Olympic Games, the FIH Hockey World Cup, the Hockey Pro League, the Asian Games, the Asia Cup, the Commonwealth Games and all FIH-sanctioned events. Domestically it organises the Senior National Championship (men's and women's), the Junior National Championship, the Sub-Junior National Championship, the Senior and Junior Nationals for both 11-a-side and 5-a-side hockey, plus inter-departmental and inter-zonal competitions. Hockey India works with 30-plus state and unit member associations, runs national coach and umpire education programmes accredited by the FIH, and administers the Hockey India League — the country's franchise-based professional competition — through a separate governing structure. The federation is led by an elected President, a Secretary General and an Executive Board.
