About
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) is the national governing body for the sport of shooting in India, covering rifle, pistol and shotgun disciplines. Founded in 1951 and headquartered in New Delhi, the NRAI is affiliated to the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) and the Asian Shooting Confederation, and is recognised by the Indian Olympic Association and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports as the sole national federation for the sport. The NRAI selects the senior and junior national shooting teams for the Olympic Games, the ISSF World Championships, the ISSF World Cup series, the ISSF Junior World Cup and Junior World Championships, the Asian Games, the Asian Shooting Championships and the Commonwealth Games. Domestically it conducts the National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC) each year — a multi-week national meet held across Senior, Junior, Youth and Sub-Youth categories in Air Rifle, Air Pistol, Rifle 3-Position, Free Pistol, Rapid Fire Pistol, Trap, Skeet and other ISSF events — along with State Ranking Tournaments and the All India Selection Trials that feed the national selection process. NRAI works with state rifle associations across India and administers coach, judge and range officer education pathways in line with ISSF certification, and operates through the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi as its primary event venue.
