Trampoline is listed on SportSupport in the gymnastics category. Its recorded origin is Modern. It is on the Olympic programme. We list GFI as the Indian governing/organising body for the sport.
Trampoline is on the pathway that runs through India's national sports federations to the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), with selection running through GFI against its published benchmarks. Being on this pathway is not itself a statement that the discipline is currently in TOPS — TOPS covers a Core Group and a Development Group chosen by the Mission Olympic Cell.
Scholarships & Funding
Central, state and private scholarships available for trampoline athletes in India.
- Khelo India Talent Identification & Development (KITID)
Monthly stipend (₹10,000 for selected Khelo India athletes), boarding, coaching and kit at accredited centres for talent identified through the Khelo India selection process (Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports). Applies only to disciplines on the official Khelo India Games list, and only to athletes it selects.
- Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS)
Central government scheme covering training, foreign exposure, equipment and an out-of-pocket allowance (up to ₹50,000/month) for athletes inducted by the Mission Olympic Cell. TOPS covers a Core Group and a Development Group of disciplines rather than every Olympic sport, and induction is decided athlete by athlete; we hold no current list confirming whether trampoline is among the covered disciplines.
- National Sports Development Fund (NSDF)
Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports fund used to sponsor elite athletes' training, foreign coaches and equipment. Allocations are made case by case; we hold no record of NSDF support specific to trampoline.
- Pension for Meritorious Sportspersons
Lifetime monthly pension (₹20,000 for Olympic/World/Asian/CWG medallists; scaled by tier) for retired internationals who meet the scheme's medal criteria — Government of India.

Trampoline gymnastics is contested on a competition trampoline where gymnasts perform routines of ten consecutive skills without intermediate straight bounces. Scores combine execution, difficulty, time of flight (total airborne time, measured electronically) and horizontal displacement, with deductions for landing off the central cross, touching the frame or safety mats, and for stopping a routine early. FIG competition covers four disciplines — individual trampoline, synchronised trampoline (two gymnasts on separate beds judged additionally on how closely they match), double mini-trampoline (a short run-up, mounting pass and dismount pass) and tumbling (a series of skills along a sprung track). Qualification routines are typically a set voluntary plus a free routine, with finals contested on a free routine only.
Authoritative rulebook: GFI. Age-group and school-level variations are published by SGFI and the state associations each season.

Major Indian Events
Domestic competitions we hold a source for in trampoline.
- National Trampoline Gymnastics Championship
Run by the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI, established 17 February 1951, affiliated to the FIG), which governs trampoline and tumbling alongside artistic, rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics. The All Age Group National Championship 2024-25 was held in Vadodara, Gujarat. Trampoline is also contested at the National Games — the 37th edition in Goa included it as a medal discipline.
- State-level championships
State associations run their own trampoline championships feeding the nationals — Tamil Nadu's state trampoline championship at Tirunelveli drew 200 participants from across the state, and Maharashtra runs an active state circuit through clubs such as Bhoir Gymkhana in Thane.
- Khelo India talent pathway
GFI's Talent Identification and Development Committee lists the Senior National Championship, Sub-Junior and Junior National Championships, Khelo India Youth Games and School Games Federation of India events as designated competitions from which gymnasts are inducted into the Khelo India Athlete scheme and National Centres of Excellence.
International Events
Continental and world-level competitions we hold a source for in trampoline.
- Asian Trampoline Gymnastics Championships
Srishti Khandagale became the first Indian ever to win a medal at this event, taking silver in the women's individual age-group category at the 6th edition in Hong Kong in May 2024, behind Kazakhstan's Dolgopolova. Because it was an age-group event rather than the senior category, the result did not carry Paris 2024 Olympic qualification.
- Trampoline & Tumbling World Championships
The FIG world championships contest four disciplines — individual, synchronised, tumbling and double mini-trampoline. The 39th edition is scheduled for Nanjing, China in November 2026, with around 400 gymnasts from 41 nations.
- Olympic Games
Trampoline made its Olympic debut at Sydney 2000 with men's and women's individual events. India has not yet qualified a trampoline gymnast for the Olympics.
Leagues
No dedicated professional league is currently catalogued for trampoline. The national championship under GFI remains the top domestic competition.

Career Options
Ways to build a career in trampoline — on the field, on the sidelines and behind the scenes.
- Trampoline is one of the smaller disciplines within Indian gymnastics, which remains marginal overall compared with cricket owing to limited facilities and sparse public interest — but that also means national-level honours are within reach of athletes from club programmes rather than only elite academies
- Rahi Pakhle, a trampoline gymnast from Thane trained at Bhoir Gymkhana, received the Maharashtra government's Thane Jilha Krida Puraskar as Best Athlete of the Year 2022-23, presented by then Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde; per a press release issued on her behalf she has won gold at the All Age Group National Championship in Vadodara with a score of 45.700, gold at the 37th National Games in Goa, and silver at a national championship in Kerala
- Corporate sponsorship of individual gymnasts is emerging — Pakhle's training has been backed by a private sponsor, one route around the sport's limited institutional funding
- Judging and coaching certification runs through GFI, which holds national judges' courses and coaches' refresher camps with FIG-standard experts; state associations such as the Tamil Nadu Gymnastics Association have run these regularly
- Playing pathway runs from club and state championships through GFI's sub-junior, junior and senior nationals, with Khelo India induction as the main funded step upward

FAQs
Common questions about trampoline in India.
Who governs Trampoline in India?▾
We list GFI as the Indian governing/organising body for Trampoline, and state associations affiliated to it run age-group and state-level competition. We hold no current-year Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports recognition record for it, so this is not a statement that it is currently a recognised national sports federation — recognition is granted year by year.
Is Trampoline an Olympic sport?▾
Yes, Trampoline is on the Olympic programme. Athletes selected by GFI against its published criteria can be considered for TOPS funding.
How do I start playing Trampoline in India?▾
The usual routes are a school team under the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), a college team under the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), or a private academy affiliated to your state association under GFI. Age-group state championships follow from there.
What government schemes support Trampoline athletes?▾
TOPS supports a Core Group and a Development Group of disciplines selected by the Mission Olympic Cell, rather than every Olympic sport. We hold no current list confirming whether Trampoline is among them, so we make no TOPS claim for it. State governments give cash awards to medallists at events they notify. Trampoline does not appear on the official Khelo India Games discipline list, so we make no Khelo India claim for it.
