When can I apply for a national sports award?+
The Ministry opens online applications and nominations on awards.gov.in each year, generally in April–May, with awards conferred at a national ceremony.
Can athletes self-nominate?+
Yes. Since 2020 self-nomination is allowed for Khel Ratna, Arjuna, Dronacharya, Dhyan Chand and the Adventure Award, in addition to nominations by federations, SAI and state governments.
